The weekend before the Christmas rush, I showered our social media pages with messages of gratitude. It got me thinking, we need to start a Weekend Word feature. We will surprise you with a Weekend Word throughout 2015. Words of kindness, words of inspiration, words, words, words and more words…

Since gratitude changes everything, let’s revisit and kick off the Weekend Word with gratitude.

grat·i·tude
ˈɡradəˌt(y)o͞od/
noun
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Weekend Word - Gratitude

Gratitude makes each one of our lives happier and our world and universe a more positive and forgiving environment.

Check out unstuck.com for A Practical Guide to gratitude.

You’re the techy type? There is a free app to give you insight and tools to get you through those unstuck moments life throws at us. Here are some cool techy touches like a Gratitude Journal for iPhone, Gratitude Plus for iPad to launch your new gratitude mood.

It also features nine ways to cultivate gratitude. I know #6 rings a bell with our girls…[When you find yourself in a bad situation ask: What can I learn? When I look back on this, without emotion, what will I be grateful for?] They have much gratitude to be living a self-sufficient lifestyle, and contributing to the world around them.  Here’s an excerpt from A Poem on Street Life from one of our girls.

I don’t know which crime I committed
To be in this situation
Hunger, coldness, I have no clothing,
Except the rags and sometimes moving naked
I get my food from dustbins,
I cannot forget to thank St. Elizabeth Girls Academy, which found me
Helpless and rescued me from the street, and gave me a new life;
a promising future. I also thank whoever is supporting St. Elizabeth to help the girl child.
Thank you all and God bless you – Ayeni

Sending you off with much love, peace and gratitude!
